1.       Travel

Feeling wanderlust? Then feed it with some travelling! You can always visit local gems within your state, head interstate, or even overseas to clear the cobwebs! Travelling is a great way for you to come back from the holidays feeling refreshed and ready to take on 2015.

2.       Don’t stay indoors all summer!

Remember that a screen isn’t all there is to life! It’s okay to leave it for a while and get outside to enjoy the sun and the weather. Explore the outdoors, meet some people, find new cafes and pubs or even lounge around the pool.

3.       Deepen relationships

There’s nothing better to know that you have valuable and meaningful relationships around you. Why not take the holidays to call your partner, family or friend out for a catch up? It doesn’t take long, and the investment into the relationship will be priceless.

4.       Enjoy the cold foods!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! There are so many great cold foods that taste better when it’s hot. Ice cream, frozen yoghurt, cold fruits and frappes are just some that we recommend and enjoy.

5.       Summer clothing

It’s time to whip out the clothing you bought in anticipation for summer or even better, for those that need retail therapy, head out to the shops with friends to find a great new summer look.

6.       Summer projects

7.       Remember to relax

Finally, remember that these are the holidays! You’re allowed to take it easy, so relax. Find a book, get a new album worth listening to, walk around the park and then lie down on a picnic rug in the middle of it, get a massage or even just sleep in. Christmas is approaching and many people are
stressing to get everything done in time. AndMerry Christmas of course there are also people who wait till the last moment to arrange everything. So if you are not completely done or even have to start planning, here are a few tips that can help you.

Tip 1 Christmas playlist

Every good party has music and it starts with a great Christmas playlist. Although it’s summer weather in Australia during the Christmas days, these songs may get you into the mood. A few of these songs are; All I want for Christmas is You, Underneath the Three and Jingle Bells.

Tip 2 Decorate

Nothing like celebrating Christmas with a Christmas tree or Santa hat. Don’t hesitate or limit yourself! You can decorate everything you want, even your pool! Give the pool lighting some custom red and green colors or decorate it with Santa hats or Red noses.

Tip 3 Christmas food and drinks

Besides cookies, a good gingerbread house is also a fun way to get in the Christmas spirit with your family. You can make it together with your children and eat it on Christmas day. For the Christmas dinner you can make traditional food together also. A good warm Christmas drink can be mint chocolate or some hearty eggnog, mmm.

Tip 4 Gifts

Receiving gifts and giving gifts to your dear ones is something we love about Christmas. Getting gifts is only half the fun, so make a list with the gifts you want to give to your family and friends. This can be something they’ve wanted for a long time or something fun. The feeling you get of seeing your loved ones feeling the warmth and happiness is one of the best feelings in the world.

This is perhaps the most important tip that we can give you. Christmas is about coming together and celebrate this time together with your loved ones. This will make you happy and the best preparation for these days is to be happy. These days are the only days where you don’t have to worry about anything else, except yourself and your family so remember to enjoy it!

Swim for Fitness

As the weather starts to warm up, those winter treats now seem to have been a bad idea. It’s time to get fit for the summer and what better way than in the pool! Just 30 to 45 minutes of swimming will start the body toning process, so what are you waiting for?

Young Athlete Triathlon In Front Of A Sunrise

A half-hour swim can burn the same amount of calories as an hour-long brisk walk. Getting toned through swimming is easier because unlike some other forms of exercise, swimming uses both upper and lower body muscles. Other benefits include:

  • Water is twelve times denser than air, so moving through it makes your muscles work harder and results in a more intense workout
  • You weigh less in the water so swimming enables you to work muscles you haven’t used in a while
  • Because swimming is an aerobic exercise, it serves to strengthen the heart, not only helping it to become larger, but making it more efficient in pumping too.

But, just like any exercise, the key is a gradual build up. Remember to stretch before and after. Stretching in the pool is beneficial as you will retain more balance.

If you’re ready to take the plunge, you will need to equip yourself with the following things:

  • A Pool – if you are lucky enough to own your own, clear out the toys and get it exercise ready! If not, then find your local public pool. Local gyms and universities might have a pool too.
  • Exercise-Appropriate Swimsuit – Swimming laps calls for a streamlined swimsuit, no fiddly bikinis or baggy boardshorts allowed. You need a swimsuit with good support and that fits snuggly against your skin, with a zero percent chance of slipping off mid-swim.
  • Goggles – These are handy for keeping the burning chlorine out of your eyes and therefore, let you swim for longer. The temporary Goggle-eye indent is well worth it.
  • Swimming Cap – Think of your fellow pool users for this one. Keep your hair to yourself and also out of your way while you’re in the pool.
  • Swimming Accessories – Public pools and gyms usually have this stuff on hand for you. Kickboards, pull buoys, paddles and other equipment. If you’re at home, then only pick up what you find essential for your everyday routines.

Need some extra oomph to get you going? Try taking some swimming lessons or water aerobics classes at your local gym or pool. There are also private swimming instructors if you prefer a one-to-one lesson.
